DRAFT <br /> SPECIAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT DATA <br /> ARTICLE 1 REPORTS OF TOWN BOARDS, OFFICERS, COMMITTEES <br /> '• ARTICLE 2 EDUCATION STATUTE <br /> The new Education Bill requires acceptance of this statute in order for the Town <br /> of Lexington School System and Minuteman Regional Vocational School to be <br /> A. eligible for the receipt of grants for professional development and supplemental <br /> teacher compensation purposes. it is anticipated that the Lexington school <br /> system will receive over a two year period ± $360,000 and Minuteman Vocational <br /> will receive over a two year period ± $ <br /> ARTICLE 3 MOTEL/HOTEL TAX STATUTE <br /> Acceptance of this statute is required to be able to receive this new source of <br /> I- ;/N , revenue which is a 4% tax on rooms. it is anticipated that the Town would <br /> receive ± $275,000 of additional revenue through the acceptance of this statute. <br /> Surrounding communities have adopted or are in the process of adopting this <br /> statute. <br /> ARTICLE 4 SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATIONS <br /> The following supplemental appropriation requests are made for the following <br /> accounts: <br /> r Account 3800 Police Department Expenses - $20,000 (new generator damaged by <br /> Hurricane Gloria) <br /> Account 4150 Fire Department Expenses - $17,000 (replacement of alarm panel <br /> damaged by Hurricane Gloria) <br /> Account 1090 Professional Services - $10,000 (personal property reevaluation) <br /> $15,000 (Marrett Road improvements) <br /> Total = $62,000 <br /> ARTICLE 5 HANDICAPPED RAMP CARY MEMORIAL BUILDING <br /> Amount Requested - $65,000 <br /> (r! A combination of extensive State procedures, local requirements because this <br /> in the Historic District and the lack of interest in this small job dramatically <br /> increased original estimates. Original appropriation was $60,000. <br />
