DRAFT SPECIAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT DATA ARTICLE 1 REPORTS OF TOWN BOARDS, OFFICERS, COMMITTEES '• ARTICLE 2 EDUCATION STATUTE The new Education Bill requires acceptance of this statute in order for the Town of Lexington School System and Minuteman Regional Vocational School to be A. eligible for the receipt of grants for professional development and supplemental teacher compensation purposes. it is anticipated that the Lexington school system will receive over a two year period ± $360,000 and Minuteman Vocational will receive over a two year period ± $ ARTICLE 3 MOTEL/HOTEL TAX STATUTE Acceptance of this statute is required to be able to receive this new source of I- ;/N , revenue which is a 4% tax on rooms. it is anticipated that the Town would receive ± $275,000 of additional revenue through the acceptance of this statute. Surrounding communities have adopted or are in the process of adopting this statute. ARTICLE 4 SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATIONS The following supplemental appropriation requests are made for the following accounts: r Account 3800 Police Department Expenses - $20,000 (new generator damaged by Hurricane Gloria) Account 4150 Fire Department Expenses - $17,000 (replacement of alarm panel damaged by Hurricane Gloria) Account 1090 Professional Services - $10,000 (personal property reevaluation) $15,000 (Marrett Road improvements) Total = $62,000 ARTICLE 5 HANDICAPPED RAMP CARY MEMORIAL BUILDING Amount Requested - $65,000 (r! A combination of extensive State procedures, local requirements because this in the Historic District and the lack of interest in this small job dramatically increased original estimates. Original appropriation was $60,000.
