Motion to approve Change Orders 16, 17 and 18 in the amounts of$39,360,$42,699 and $31,561 <br /> respectively,for the Estabrook School Project as recommended by the Architects of Record and Hill <br /> International Project Managers. (Jon, Dick)The Motion was approved 6-0 <br /> 3. Approve Transfer to Cover Change Order Costs <br /> Mark Barrett explained that the Members needed to transfer the contingency money to the <br /> construction cost line in order to fund the Change Orders previously voted on. <br /> Motion to transfer$113,620.00 from the contingency line of the budget to the construction cost line <br /> of the building to fund these changes (Jon, Dick)The Motion was approved 6-0 <br /> 4. Approve Payment Requisition 23&24 <br /> Mark Barrett reminded the Members that there was an outstanding requisition from last month in the <br /> amount of$773,583 shown as Requisition No. 23 that still needed to be voted on. Mr. Barrett also <br /> requested approval from the Members on Requisition 24 in the amount of$18,695.00. Jon Himmel <br /> asked Patrick Goddard, Director of Public Facilities if he approved these payments and Mr. Goddard <br /> responded in the affirmative. <br /> Motion to approve Requisition#23 in the amount of$773,583.00 and Requisition#24 in the amount <br /> of$218,695.00 to Shawmut Design &Construction for the Estabrook School Project, as recommended <br /> by the Architect of Record and Hill International Project Managers (Jon, Dick)The Motion was <br /> approved 6-0 <br /> 5. Shawmut Construction Reconciliation and Pre-Construction Issues <br /> Peter L'Hommedieu and Joubin Hassanian, Shawmut Construction (Shawmut) requested approval and <br /> assistance from the Members to help recoup$90,000 in pre-construction overrun costs from the <br /> Massachusetts School Building Association (MSBA). Messrs. L'Hommedieu and Hassanian presented <br /> detailed reasons to support their request which included delivering the project on time and in good <br /> quality. <br /> There was considerable discussion among the Members and questions to Messrs. L'Hommedieu and <br /> Hassanian regarding why Shawmut should be paid additional money for pre-construction work which <br /> was not included in Shawmut's original contract with the Town of Lexington. Members also discussed <br /> whether they have the authority to authorize payment of additional money to Shawmut. It was <br /> decided by the Members that Shawmut should put in writing the reasons for the additional <br /> compensation and submit it to them for discussion next month. The Members will need to have <br /> something in writing to bring to the Town Manager and his staff for consideration if not contractually <br /> supported. <br /> Carl Oldenburg left the meeting at 8:15 pm. <br /> II. Bridge& Bowman Elementary School <br /> 1. Flooring Update. Mark Barrett presented the Bid Tab summary of flooring at the Bridge <br /> Elementary School which includes the base bid and the add alternate for gym flooring (i) Capital Carpet <br /> & Flooring (Base Bid$156,818 and Alternate$81,430), (ii) Paul J. Rogan (Base Bid$289,900 and <br /> Alternate$85,000), and (iii) Continental Flooring (Base Bid 189,843, Alternate$74,323). Abatement will <br /> finish on Tuesday and Phase II will begin after that date. The gym floor work will continue until mid- <br /> August. <br /> PBC Meeting Minutes 071014 Page 2 <br />
