Lexington Council for the Arts
1
Approved Meeting Minutes – April 14, 2014
Attendance
Present – Jean Hart, Lynne Klemmer, Leslie Masson, Diana South, Cristina Burwell, Zoe Perry-
Wood and guest, Matthew Pronchick
Absent – Several members were absent due to the unfortunate conflict between this LCA
meeting time and the first night of Passover. These include Emily Passman, Jessie Steigerwald,
Cheryl Meadow, as well as Regie O-Hare Gibson.
Minutes were taken by Cristina Burwell.
Cristina Burwell, Chair, convened the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
Secretary's report
Because the secretary was absent with the holiday, updated minutes and their review were put on
hold until the following meeting.
Treasurer’s report - Diana South
Everything remains the same as last report.
Chairperson’s report - Cristina Burwell
2013 Grants
The Lexington Symphonys reimbursement for the 300th closing concert was submitted on
March 25, 2014, which is outside of the granting window. This committee agreed that MCC
rules should be followed which say that reimbursement requests need to be submitted within the
grant cycle. This notification appears to grantees in the application process and is on the MCC
website. Additionally, LCA sent out postcards in January to those organizations who had not
submitted a reimbursement (saying that they needed to do so by the end of February 2014).
Cristina will be notifying the grantee.
2014 Grants
Denise Doucette emailed to say that with the funds we provided (less than she requested) she
will only be able to make one performance (in May) rather than two.
Community Center Update
LCA committee members attended a tour of the Lexington community center on March 14th
with the CC interiors committee and the architects. Much of this meeting time was spent with
the interiors committee reviewing color schemes, and swatches with architects; followed by a
group tour of the community center and its wall/display space.
In March, Jessie and Cristina put together a grant application request for $8000 to the
Community Endowment of Lexington in hopes of putting out an RFP for a major piece of at to
be displayed at the time of the CC opening in March 2015. Grant decisions are to be made in
early May of this year.
Page 1
