Panasse Hangen Brustlin,Inc. <br /> a. �_k design recommendations that followed.The recommendations <br /> proposed:new trail locations,connections,and access points; <br /> improvements to existing trails and access points;and,the <br /> proposed hierarchy of trail and boardwalk types.The Greenway <br /> ' Master Plan contains the compiled inventor data,site analysis <br /> `� �� .s ti�r_• _ Via, p ,���� i��' ^;,� p Y Y <br /> findings,and planning and design recommendations pertaining <br /> to the trail network.An additional project component,to closely <br /> follow the Master Plan report,will be Preliminary Design plans <br /> completed to MHD 2S%level for the Minuteman-Battle Road <br /> } " Connector Trail to Wood Street,which will be based upon the trail <br /> alignment recommended in the Master Plan. <br /> '4 •i7 r+' "�us <br /> Public Meetings and Outreach <br /> Three public meetings were held during the inventory and <br /> analysis phases of the process(see Appendix A for minutes from <br /> these).In addition,the WLG Task Force conducted a series of <br /> related outreach efforts to NSTAR,City of Cambridge,abutting <br /> landowners and business owners,and others.The outreach <br /> process also included walks of the project area to introduce <br /> interested parties to the project and the area. <br /> The first public meeting was held on January 16,2008,to share a <br /> summary of the inventory information and to solicit feedback on <br /> additional information that would be desirable to include in the <br /> final master plan report.The meeting was well attended by over <br /> 3S interested community members as well as representatives <br /> from the Minute Man National Historical Park and the Cambridge <br /> Water Department(CWD).Many practical questions and com- <br /> ments were documented during the course of the meeting, <br /> which were incorporated into the master planning process. <br /> A second public meeting was held on February 28,2008 to <br /> address the analysis phase of the project by drawing upon the <br /> data collected during the inventory phase.Topics such as site <br /> challenges and opportunities,trail types and potential locations <br /> for improving existing trails and creating new trails were <br /> discussed.The goal of the master plan to improve access to and <br /> through the trail network and potential locations for universally <br /> accessible trails was also discussed.In addition,the meeting <br /> covered progress made in ongoing outreach efforts to stakehold- <br /> ers including NSTAR,the City of Cambridge,and abutting <br /> landowners.Again,public comments were incorporated into the <br /> master planning process. <br /> The third public meeting was held on May 13,20o8 to present the <br /> IN <br /> �' ` `^° ' R,.',- ha'•, " ak. final recommendations for the West Lexington Greenway <br /> elements.Recommendations were provided for a hierarchy of <br /> West Lexington Greenway Master Plan 3 <br />
