Mass Ave Bike Parking: The Selectmen approved the proposal to extend the bike parking pilot to include weekdays until Labor Day and on weekends until October. Mass Ave Striping: Peggy distributed a diagram of Mass. Ave. from Worthen Road to Rt. 128 showing road widths. The Traffic Safety Advisory Committee recommends a combination of sharrows and a narrow fog line where space allows — instead of bike lanes. We voted to recommend a three -foot fog lane and sharrows and the installation of BMTFL signs to reinforce the share - the -road message. The committee discussed the spreadsheet prepared by the LBAC roadways subcommittee. This group worked with John Livsey to identify the network of streets most used by cyclists, along with recommendations for striping, bike lanes, and other bike accommodations. The committee expressed the hope that the document will be used during future planning of street improvements. A member asked about plans for Lincoln Street striping. DCR Minuteman Bikeway Grant: A new map is being produced by Russ Brami of SnowyOwl Maps. The wayfinding portion of the project will begin once the DPW sets up a meeting with the company — Toole Design -- who has been awarded the contract. The company will use volunteer help to assess the current inventory of signs and amenities. Bikeway Safety: A roller blader was injured by an oncoming car at the Hancock Street intersection. The committee discussed the problems at Hancock and agreed that improvement of this intersection should be given high priority. Bikeway safety can be improved by both law enforcement and improved road
