,S US Mop <br />pQ` 1 775 ` �(3 <br />APRIL II <br />� k /NG'V <br />APPROVED MEETING MINUTES <br />Committee Name: Lexington Bicycle Advisory Committee <br />Date, Time and Location of Meeting: August 9, 2012, 7 pm, Town Office <br />Building <br />Members Present: Peggy Enders, (Chair), Stew Kennedy, John Frey, Marita <br />Hartshorn, George Gagliardi, Mike Tabaczynski <br />Members Absent: Laurel Carpenter, Jerry Van Hook, Bob Hausslein (FoLB <br />Others Present: Bob Dangel, Joel Adler, Rich Spencer <br />Minutes: The July 2012 minutes were accepted. <br />Mass Ave Bike Parking: The Selectmen approved the proposal to extend the <br />bike parking pilot to include weekdays until Labor Day and on weekends until <br />October. <br />Mass Ave Striping: Peggy distributed a diagram of Mass. Ave. from Worthen <br />Road to Rt. 128 showing road widths. The Traffic Safety Advisory Committee <br />recommends a combination of sharrows and a narrow fog line where space allows <br />— instead of bike lanes. We voted to recommend a three -foot fog lane and <br />sharrows and the installation of BMTFL signs to reinforce the share - the -road <br />message. The committee discussed the spreadsheet prepared by the LBAC <br />roadways subcommittee. This group worked with John Livsey to identify the <br />network of streets most used by cyclists, along with recommendations for striping, <br />bike lanes, and other bike accommodations. The committee expressed the hope <br />that the document will be used during future planning of street improvements. A <br />member asked about plans for Lincoln Street striping. <br />DCR Minuteman Bikeway Grant: A new map is being produced by Russ Brami <br />of SnowyOwl Maps. The wayfinding portion of the project will begin once the <br />DPW sets up a meeting with the company — Toole Design -- who has been <br />awarded the contract. The company will use volunteer help to assess the current <br />inventory of signs and amenities. <br />Bikeway Safety: A roller blader was injured by an oncoming car at the Hancock <br />Street intersection. The committee discussed the problems at Hancock and <br />agreed that improvement of this intersection should be given high priority. <br />Bikeway safety can be improved by both law enforcement and improved road <br />
