FORMAL HEARINGS
20 Waltham Street:
Mark Ehrli, representing Buca Di Beppo, brought in new sign
configuration for side wall. They did come late to the meeting. The Commissioners questioned
the set up of the sign with the name being very large and the handicapped symbol being very
small and also the alley way for handicapped access. The Commissioners felt that it was very
poorly lighted and asked the owners to come back with a better concept. Hearing was continued
to January 5, 2012.
1646 Massachusetts Avenue
: Carl Oldenburg, representing Sharon Spaulding of Lexington
Village Partnership c/o Spaulding Management. Carl recues himself from voting. He presented
in depth diagrams and pictures for a blade sign the same size as the one that is currently there
which will match the existing sign on the other side for a total of 2 signs. Existing windows will
match with casings. The Commissioners voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness.
Certificate No. 2011C-91.

Associate Commissioners: Barbara Feldman and Lynn Hopkins

FORMAL HEARINGS CONT.
1707 Massachusetts Avenue
: Thomas O. Fenn, Esq. representing Feng Chen, Friutee Yogurt
Corp. with request for signage change. He brought in several pictures of where the sign would
be placed. It was noted that the logo on the front was different then one to be placed on the back.
The Commissioners recommended a more vertical sign, raised higher but felt that the suggested
colors were fine. Commissioners recommended a Continuance until Jan. 5, 2012.
CONTINUED HEARINGS
35 Hancock Street
: Patrick Carroll presented plans for a re-configured driveway, but the
Commissioners were concerned about possibility of: permanent parking spaces” happening, the
appearance of a car on the lawn and possible easement issues which are not under the purview of
the HDC. Another continuance was recommended and a better site plan to be presented.
1690 Massachusetts Avenue
: This was a continuance from several months ago. Kevin Lady
presented with pictures of what was wanted, an additional sign making a total of 3 signs on
bollards in the rear parking lot. The Commissioners thought that 3 signs were too many for this
area and recommended that he stick with the 2 signs and bollards already approved and moving
one sign and bollard from in front of the window to a more appropriate location. The bollards
will be painted a more appropriate color to match the building. Approval was already granted
for the 2 signs and bollards.
