Going back to the early 1900’s, the ßÍÍ×ÍÌßÒÌ Ü×ÎÛÝÌÑÎ ÚßÓ×ÔÇ ñ ØËÓßÒ ÍÛÎÊ×ÝÛÍ “Boston Post” Cane was traditionally given to a town’s oldest resident. The Û³·´§ Í¿®¿ Ô¿ª·²»ô Ô×ÝÍÉ Town of Lexington revived the cane award tradition 24 years ago, deciding ßØãÎÛÖßüØßÌÛÖÝÐÕÖ×ãÝÕÎ to call it the “Minuteman Cane”. The Minuteman Cane Award honors a Lexington resident who is at least 80 years old and actively participates ßÍÍ×ÍÌßÒÌ Ü×ÎÛÝÌÑÎ ÑÚ ÍÛÒ×ÑÎ ÍÛÎÊ×ÝÛÍ in service in and around the Lexington community. Positions vary and hours are À exible. • Applications are available through the Senior Services Department, Paula McGlynn at the Senior Center 781-861-0194. • Applicants must be 60 years of age or older and own property in Lexington that is their principle residence. • Gross income (including Social Security income) must not exceed $46,300 for a single taxpayer or $ 52,950 for a couple. The maximum credit for a single taxpayer is $935.00. A couple may earn a maximum of $1,190.00. ØËÓßÒ ÍÛÎÊ×ÝÛÍæ Veterans Services: For Veterans services information please call 781-861-0194 to be connected to our interim Veterans Services Of¿ cer. Senior Health Outreach Program: This program is a service provided by the Town of Lexington to seniors who are homebound and unable to easily access health screenings. The service includes regular home visits conducted by a registered nurse as well as consultation and home visits by a social worker if needed.
