HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-05-25-TMG-minTOWN OF LEXINGTON TRAFFIC MITIGATION GROUP DRAFT MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 25, 2010 Attendance Members Richard Canale, Jeanne Krieger, Susan Yanofsky, Aaron Henry, and Ancillary Member Jerry VanHook were present. Member Henry drafted the minutes. Hartwell Ave. Transportation Mitigation Overlay District -TMOD The topic was placed on the agenda at the request of Member Canale. The Planning Board's work to adopt a comprehensive area -wide plan has not progressed since TMG's last meeting except for the announcement of a series of meetings to refresh the community's awareness of the project as well as the plan's pending public hearing. These meetings are as follows: • Board of Selectmen, June 7 The purpose is to update the Selectmen on the plan with a particular emphasis on those items that are outside of the Planning Board's control, mainly financing and policy. • Public Workshop, June 12 The purpose of the third community meeting is to review the draft plan with those residents and business inside the plan's area of influence, which has been defined to include all properties north of Mass Ave, south of Grove St, east of the Bedford town line, and west of I -95/Rt 128. • Planning Board Public Hearing, June 23 The purpose of this meeting is for the Board to open its formal public hearing on the plan's adoption. Susan Yanofsky requested that more outreach be conducted to the business community, and the Selectmen's Economic Development Advisory Committee. Discussion of the US Department of Transportation's new Bike/Ped Policy Member Canale requested that TMG discuss the policy and how the Town might advance it locally. The policy, published by DOT, entitled "Policy Statement on Bicycle and Pedestrian Accommodation Regulations and Recommendations," and was signed into effect on March 11, 2010 and announced March 15, 2010. Member Canale desires that the community acquaint itself with the policy and incorporate it into the Town's non - federally projects. Member Kreiger, the Selectmen's designee to TMG, felt that it would be appropriate to bring the topic before the Selectmen. No formal action or recommendation was taken by the TMG on this matter. Minutes The minutes of April 27, 2010, were adopted with minor edits by a vote of three to zero with Member Yanofsky abstaining from the vote.
