1. Crosswalk on Waltham Street by roof haven:
Dave reported that an RFP. was sent 'out and Beta was selected to do the c nstructxo
of the crosswalk. A survey will need to be done to deter - nine the best location of the
crosswalk. . There is some money available and Dave hoped that some of the TMG
funds could be - used for the project.
Engineer - Ing does not have the staff to oversee this project at this time, so it will be
put on bold until someone In engineering can oversee. the consultant, which can be
very time CODSU I .g.
2 East Massachusetts Avenue corridor:
Dave reported that three intersections are being studied by the consultant and seven
pedestn'an crosswalks. s. The proposed. improvements need to accommodate vehicles,
bikes, and pedestrians. A preliminary design will be completed soon., and the next
phase will be the public process.
This will be a capital article on the Town Meeting Warrant for the spring of 2010.
survey is needed of the area. The goal is to have 25% design completed to Mass
H ighway by next spring of 2010. Dave think A should qualify for the TIP for
constnictlon to begin in 2016 or 2017.
Dave requested support from TMG to move forward on this project and get If
programmed on the TIP.
Jerry thought there should be interim measures in place to male these intersections
safer. Richard thought design solutions should include phased - implementation..
Richard formally recommended that the Mass Ave corridor project be put on the
Town M eeting warrant for the spring of 2010 and the proposed budget be approved.
It was unanimous.
3. Proposed Concord Avenue Sidewalk between Waltham Street and S ring Street
Jerry reported that the sidewalk committee discussed traffic issues and
pedestrian bic cle safety on Concord Avenue. ResIdents are going to f'onna.11
submit their concerns at the next S1 cwal . Committee meeting on October 5, 2009.
Jerry asked if this could be put on the list of sidewalks c nsidcre . by the town? .ferry
will bring back more information on this at the next TMG meeting on October 27"'.

Richard reported that Tetra. Tech Rico is currently under contract witli the To vii
of Lexington to prepare the TMOD for Hartwell Avenue. There has been one
community meeting and two more are plarn cd for November. The Planning
Board wants input from van' ons boards, c ommittee's, etc. For the October
meeting, the PImming Board w1fl. report to TMG about the progress o f the TMO .
5 . Traffic Mitig Grope Coniniitt e CI�ar e:
The TMG was ongi ally designed to be negotiators wi-th developers o traffic
mitigation. But the charge now 1 .ncle r. Susan said that the frame vorl as t
how the town sloes the negotiation 1s not open - ended. It was decided to discuss
th.1s at a later meeting,, as several TMG members were not present.
6. Updates
Susan - discussed the two CD rezoning proposals for the Special Town Meeting
this fall. Cub and Patriot Partners will be on the Warrant for November , 2009
( it may extend 1.ii.to November 16 and IS if needed). TAC was meeting this
mo nrng to discuss the Cubist negotiation over traffic mitigation. No deci l'OD.
