October 23, 2007
Present: David Cannon, Elaine Dratch, Jeanne Krieger, Christine McVay, Gail Wagner,
and Susan Yanofsky
The Traffic Mitigation Group (TMG) met on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 9:30 AM in
Room 111 of the Town Office Building. The following summarizes the discussion.
Hartwell Ave
➢ The weekend of Oct 27 and 28, weather permitting, Hartwell Ave will be striped.
Hartwell Ave Commuter Options
➢ Danny Moraff, TAC member, suggested a software system to promote Hartwell
commuter carpooling.
➢ Susan's upcoming Hartwell business meeting is to include carpooling and will be
pursued as a first step.
➢ Carpooling traditionally includes a guaranteed ride home via taxi. Zip car was
suggested as an added guaranteed ride home.
➢ Lincoln Labs reneged on hosting the meeting due to security concerns. Susan is
exploring alternate sites including Cubist and Boston Properties
School Representation on TMG
➢ Jeanne will speak to Tom Diaz to identify school representative.
Traffic Safety Advisory Committee's (TSAC) function in Relation to TMG
➢ The duties of TSAC staff members and TSAC citizen members were
distinguished.
➢ Citizens are sent staff agendas and periodically attend monthly staff meetings.
➢ Although the last citizens' forum was December 2005, it was felt that the TSAC
citizens' component should continue to address issues that may develop.
Center Parking Survey
➢ To research a new parking /traffic bylaw, the Planning Dept is conducting a
parking survey as presented by Christine.
➢ Identified contacts: Daphne Politis, Center forum, and Jerry Michelson, retailer.
➢ Full capacity noted in the Depot Square lot since Battle Green Inn redevelopment.
➢ Center parking permit holders maybe polled through the permit renewal process.
20//20 Vision Commercial Zone Anal
➢ Susan is part of this effort and asked for stakeholder suggestions.
➢ Identified: TMMA, Hansocm, Massport, Hayden, neighborhood associations.
Letter to Secretary Cohen to submit with TDM Policy
➢ Richard Canale will be asked for an update.
