June 26, 2007
Present: TMG members: Dave Cannon, Elaine Dratch, Jeanne Krieger, Jerry VanHook,
Gail Wagner, potential member Susan Yafonsky, Economic Development staff
The Traffic Mitigation Group (TMG) met on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 9:30 AM in
Room 111 of the Town Office Building. The following summarizes the discussion.
Hartwell Ave,
➢ Dave stated BSC has finished collecting data. BSC indicated that bicycle lane
stripping can be accommodated, but it will result in reduced auto access for
tenants near Hanscom entrance.
➢ Dave emphasized this was a limited study.
➢ An interim meeting with BSC and stakeholders to review options will be held in
the next two weeks. Participants will include TMG members, Lincoln Lab,
Design Advisory Committee, and business representatives identified by Susan.
➢ Jerry will check with Lincoln Labs as to dates and times and notify Dave and
Susan.
Waltham Development and Impact on Route 128
➢ Waltham expansion off Route 117 will generate 30,000 added vehicle trips on
Route 128.
➢ HATS circulated information as to the regional impact.
➢ Details need to be secured and reviewed by town committees, specifically noted
TMG and Planning, to see if a letter of concern be submitted to the Selectmen.
Walkable Communities Event
➢ Preliminary meeting held on June 7 with Cathy Buckley Lewis of the MPO.
➢ September 18 or 25 is a likely event date with a start time of 8:30 am.
➢ Cary Memorial Library is the first choice as a Center meeting place.
➢ Gail will work on scheduling.
Shire Pharmaceutical
➢ Planning Dept submitted an economic development statement with input from
engineering 6 weeks ago that that may generate state road funds.
➢ A tax incentive plan has been requested of the Town and consultants on behalf of
the town are reviewing all aspects.
Updates
➢ Jeanne intends to contact Mass Hwy officials to review the status of Marrett Rd
g Spring St project. Mass Hwy as yet to submit plans.
