Residents ask for assistance with their taxes, but are often reluctant to share their concerns with the Assessors' Office. Joe and his staff will refer residents to Steve Baran who can help assess their need and make appropriate referrals. In Sudbury, where Joe lives, the Board of Assessors has been directed by the Selectmen and /or Town Meeting to use a liberal interpretation of Chapter 18, a state abatement program. The Selectmen will learn more about Chapter 18 and we will monitor the impact of the circuit breaker legislation. The latter should provide aid to residents in need.
