FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD
September 25, 2007
4:30 p.m., Selectmen's Office, Town Office Building
PRESENT: Norman Cohen, George Burnell, Dan Lucas, Alan Fields, Alan Wrigley; Becky
Kosterman and Barbara Deveau, Social Services Department
1. Approximate amount of money available as of 8/31/07: Income: $8,413
Principal: $13,542
2. Human Services Report:
a. Becky Kosterman reviewed expenses of Human Services Fund from June 13, 2007
through September 24, 2007. Becky pointed out that the printed report left out a
$1,100 payment to DB . It was noted that we had not yet paid LB $2,000, previously
approved, for home repairs since the work has not yet been done.
b. Approved the authorization of holiday gift certificates for clothing for children under
the age of 18. Last year the Fund contributed $3,250. The Rotary Club also
contributed money for this purpose. A question was asked whether TJX gives a
discount on these certificates. Barbara Deveau will check.
c. Request for $3,654.06 for SK's October mortgage, NSTAR and Arlex Oil bills.
Voted 5 -0 to provide $500 each month for three months, a total of $1,500. Becky
Kosterman will use money to pay vendors.
d. Ratify Poll Vote Request: $1,100 for DB July rent. APPROVED 5 -0
e. Ratify Poll Vote Request: $2,000 for LB repairs. APPROVED 5 -0
3. Other Issues
a. Request from LHS Landscaping Committee - $5,000. Voted 5 -0 to grant $2,000.
There may be other trust funds available.
b. Request for East Village Blooming Flower Barrels - $1,150. Voted 5 -0 to grant
$800. Norman Cohen will speak to David Williams to see if other funds are
available.
c. Solicitation Letter - Norman Cohen will draft the annual solicitation letter.
4. The minutes of June 12, 2007 were approved 3 -0 (Burnell and Wrigley abstained).
5. The next meeting will be December 4, 2007 at 4:30 p.m.
