1. Lexpress Update
• Review of Lexpress ridership data
• FTA Triennial Review — It was brought to the Town's attention that the current
Lexpress cash fare structure is not in compliance with ADA regulations. Changes
must be made starting FYI 3 .
• Transit Subsidy Costs: Jeanette reviewed the new tiered cost system for low- income
residents. Peter Levy stated that this cost should be reflected in the Lexpress budget
starting FYI 4, and a revenue source found to pay for these reduced passes.
• Fare Box Procedure: Lexpress fare boxes will no longer be kept at the Police
Station. The Lexpress drivers will exchange the boxes directly with Linda in the
Transportation Services Office.
• Flexpass: Elaine Celi and Mary Ellen Dunn from the School Dept attended the
meeting to discuss continuing the Flexpass program. The Committee decided to
support continuation of the program for FYI 3 .
• Exterior Bus Design: A first draft design was reviewed and comments made.
2. Transportation Services Update
• Route 76 Bus Stop Issues: A resident submitted a complaint concerning the
condition of the bus stops along a portion of Watertown Street. TAC recommended
that this be handled by the Sidewalk Committee since it has more to do with
pedestrian accessibility.
• Lex - Connect: Jeanette displayed the finalized outreach materials and vouchers.
3. Dana Home: Trisha Kennealy and her father were present to discuss their development
proposal for the Dana Home called the Inn at Hastings Park. Suggestions were made that the
Inn could incentivize the use of public transit by purchasing Lexpress tickets and providing
them for free to employees and guests.
4. Article 17: A group of concerned residents are proposing an article at Town Meeting to have
the Town subsidize school bus passes. Four TAC members were in favor of the Article.
However, the committee felt that a formal statement should be made that the Article does not
address what policies should be implemented to discourage driving.
5. Next Meeting: Bill will send out a doodle to schedule a meeting in late April or early May.
