A meeting of the Lexington Energy Conservation Committee was held on December 14,
2011 at 6pm in Room 221 of the Public Services Building on Bedford St.
Swapnil Shah from First Fuel, a energy analytics company gave a presentation on the
analysis his company carried out on certain Lexington public buildings. The company has
developed software which takes one year of electrical consumption data from the utility
company (NSTAR in this case), hourly local weather data, gas consumption data etc. and
uses an algorithm to process the data and reveal how efficiently energy is being used in
the building. A wealth of very informative charts and graphs were presented on analysis
carried out on six public Lexington buildings.
Shawn presented some data comparing 2009 and 2010 consumption of some public
builidings. He showed that Estabrook airconditioning and ventilation increases have
essentially resulted in doubling the Btu consumption.
