Member concerns Julie Miller asked if perhaps Suzie could move our meetings from Cary Hall to the Town Office Building. Suzie will check to see if there is space available. Veterans’ Day 2011 updates  Thursday’s rain saturated town grounds and fields; therefore, the various town departments involved decided that it was best to cancel Friday’s parade and hold the ceremony indoors at Cary Hall. All participants have been notified of the change in plans.  Mary Gillespie will have two copies of all contest essays bound for distribution, one to Cary Library and one to the veterans’ organization.  Since Bridge and Bowman students will not be available to help hand flowers to attending veterans, boy and girl scouts will be asked to assist. Patriots’ Day 2012  Dan Fenn has accepted the committee’s offer to act as chief marshal of the afternoon parade.  Committee members discussed at length important issues relative to our need for banner bearers  What is an appropriate age range for the bearers? (consider stamina, maturity – perhaps 10 years+ might be best)  All aspects of communication (with parents, online sign up, confirmation and reminders of commitment, where to have participants meet, etc.)  Recruitment  How to attract participants, i.e. sports teams (Naomi Martin at LHS may be able to help), scouts, families, church groups, etc.  Linda Dixon will draft a recruitment flyer  Appropriate “reward” for participating (t-shirt, hat, mittens, maybe a small monetary gift, etc.?)  Thanking the bearers Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
