HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-01-23-NAC-minNOISE ADVISORY COMMITTEE 23 January 2012 A duly posted meeting of the Noise Advisory Committee (NAC), held in Room 111 of Town Halll, was called to order at 8:30 pm by Chairman Tony Galaitsis with members Jack Maloney, Bob Earsy, Mary Hosmer Fanucci, Steve Kropper and Planning Board liaison Richard Canale present. Also present in the audience was Jeff MacLean, representative of the New England Locations. The NAC covered the topics as listed in the agenda, namely: Discussion of proposed Filming Event by Riff Raff Films Jeff MacLean briefed the Committee on plans for filing "Friends will help you move" Petitioner described the generator that is planned to power lighting. Staff of 25 expected on site. As noise impact was considered, member Bob Earsy pointed out that the generator was likely to be muted simply to avoid noise impacts on the filming. Bob also pointed out that in the winter residents are likely to have their windows closed. Filming anticipated between 5:30 and 7:00 AM. The petitioner provided an aerial photo detailing the filming area, the staging area, the use of Hancock United Church for crew, and the church lot for crew and other associated vehicle parking. NAC members were provided with the project application submitted on 1/11/12. The Petitioner requested that the NAC vote reflect a 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM February 17 -18 beginning -to -end schedule rather than the 3:00 PM to 6:00 AM schedule shown in the application. The Committee unanimously voted to recommend that the Selectmen approve the Petitioner's 1/11/12 application for a permit. Minutes of previous meeting (1/10/2012) The Committee approved the minutes unanimously. Other Chairman Galaitsis inquired about members' recollection of earlier deliberation and decision (a few years ago) by the NAC to provide authority to the Chair to convey the NAC's position on similar filming events without a formal NAC meeting. He will request minutes of the relevant former meeting to clarify this point for future cases. The meeting was adjourned at about 9:00 pm.
