HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-10-01-SLC-minTown of Lexington Sustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of October 11, 2011 The kickoff event for the Sustainable Lexington Committee's (SLC's) Better Buildings program was held on October 11, 2011 at Cary Hall. A quorum of four committee members was present. Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair Rick Abrams, Ken Moraff, Todd Rhodes Members Absent: None Other Attendees: Travis Estes, Next Step Living (NSL) Pasi Miettinen, Sagewell Inc. Approximately 42 residents attended the presentation The meeting began at 7:30 pm. The Better Buildings kickoff event featured three presentations. Mr. Sandeen opened the meeting with a presentation to introduce the SLC's Better Buildings program. The presentation included a description of energy use in Lexington and the objectives of the Better Buildings program. Mr. Miettinen presented the results of work conducted by his firm to assess the energy efficiency performance of residential buildings through the analysis of infrared (IR) images. His presentation included a discussion of commonly held myths about residential building energy efficiency. Mr. Estes described the work conducted by NSL as part of the MassSave program, including the home energy audit process, and the activities involved in implementing air sealing and insulation. The presentations concluded at 8:30 and participants were invited to talk more and enjoy coffee (provided by the Bedford Road Starbucks) and ice cream (provided by Rancatore's) in the lobby of Cary Hall.
