HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-01-10-TOUR2-minTourism Committee Meeting Town of Lexington January 10, 2011 Present: Carla Fortmann, Kerry Brandin, Paul O' Shaughnessy, Susan Bennett, John Patrick, Mary Gillespie, Dawn McKenna, Mary Jo Bohart, Masha Traber Absent: Bebe Fallick, Coleen McAdam, Lou Sideris, Jim Shaw 1. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the following minutes were reviewed and accepted: November 1, 2010 and December 13, 2010 2. Business visits: Favorable reports from participating organizations & businesses β€” request to complete the visits as soon as possible 3 A.French Faire -Date Feb 13, 2011 at Depot β€” 4 β€” 6:30 PM a) possibility of 2 auction items b) entertainment c) French consul to attend 4. Lexington Brochure Upon Motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to change photo on brochure to a picture of the trolley for the upcoming season. 5. Committee reviewed "Linger in Lexington" program 6. AAA Market Place β€”the committee will have a booth at their exhibition at Foxboro Stadium March 4, 5, 6 2011. Committee members are to come to next meeting with ideas for a) Booth design b) Merchandise items c) Handouts d) Individuals willing to be scheduled to man booth 7. MOTT Sponsorship - $2000 subject to available fundraising 8. Liberty Ride Committee discussed having a seasonal assistant director so that Masha can have two days off per week during the season. It as was agreed that we would speak with Carl. The budget submitted to Town Meeting accounts for that possibility. The Historical Society requested an increase in the compensation they receive for each ticket redeemed. There was concern from those present that the Town has contributed significant dollars, both from the Liberty Ride Admissions and from the Community Preservation Act restoration of both Hancock - Clarke and Munroe Tavern. We agreed to consider it at the next meeting. 9. Antony Park The Committee discussed the progress of the Antony Working Group on designing Antony Park. Per the Selectmen's prior approval, the Park will be built at the Arlington end of Tower Park between the hill with the bench and the property line.
