HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-11-16-TOUR2-minTOWN OF LEXINGTON TOURISM COMMITTEE MINUTES Monday, November 16, 2009 Chairman Dawn McKenna called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m. Members present: Kerry Brandin, Bebe Fallick, Carla Fortmann, Dawn McKenna, John Patrick Mary Gillespie has been appointed to the Committee. A newly compiled list of the Tourism Committee was distributed. Antony Warrant Article for the Nov. Special Town Meeting The article has generated controversy as to the amount of money requested. There is general support for the Antony reunion but the article will be Indefinitely Postponed and the funds will be raised privately. There will be a fundraiser meeting on Dec. 15, 2 p.m., 2 Battleview Circle to brainstorm on fundraising ($5000 has already been pledged); the Antony reunion group will meet Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. Battle Green sign Portion by Christopher Bing should be done in Jan. /Feb. He has suggested an arc of three panels: his drawing of the battle and the Green, a map of the entire Battle Road aspect, and further information in text form. There was some concern with size and placement; members of the Committee will go to the site individually and will discuss the signage further at the next meeting. Use of Tourism Funds (where should the $15,000 be spent) After discussion, the priority list was established as follows: 1. Map —Dawn will be meeting with CTM 2. Ad on home page of www.bostonusa.com - discussion as to $8000/5000 for one year (larger ad would give us a second presence) 3. MOTT Conference — March, 2010 —Dawn will check to assure our presence, providing Conference is not cancelled due to funding issues 4. Calendar of Events — should it be a handout to visitors and /or put on website 5. Additional Ads Next agenda will include the need to create a brand for Lexington. Liberty Ride Masha Traber's raise has been approved by the Town Manager and the Personnel Director. Dawn McKenna, Carla Fortmann and Kerry Brandin will serve as a Review Team using the existing written job description and the Town's evaluation form, and will set goals with Masha. Carla will continue to check Step -on guide prices charged by other entities.
