Committee Chair Susan Rockwell called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
UPDATES:
• MEMENTOS:
• DECALS—Susan Rockwell reported Lexington Press could produce the
previously discussed decals (inside mount) for an approximate price of
$.44 each(1000 order). Members authorized the purchase of the 3 x 4"
decals.
• MONUMENT—Eric Carlson reported on the concept of a permanent
memorial at Emery Park/Depot Square—granite memorial to encase a
time capsule, with a column upon which is mounted a 3-sided clock. The
clock design options, etc. are many. It was suggested the time capsule
sponsor, Mr. Stanley Abkowitz, be invited to join the Lexington 300th
Committee at the upcoming update to be provided to the Selectmen.
■ UPDATE TO SELECTMEN—The Committee is scheduled to provide the
Selectmen an update at the June 20th meeting. Speakers will include:
• Susan Rockwell—introductions
• Jessie Steigerwald—overview of 3 major events and concepts for
the celebration
• Suzie Barry—April 2013 parade considerations/options
• Eric Carlson—clock, time capsule, etc.
• PROGRAMS&EVENTS—Jessie Steigerwald reported the events planning is
going well with the working groups of 9 `leaders', some of which are already
interested in coordinating the olde time baseball, opening day, Chinese
American/Indian multicultural dance. Tanya Morrisett and Jessie plan to co-
chair a February 2012 (?) fashion show.
• BUDGET—Events chairs are to come back to the sub group then full group
with some sense of budgetary needs. Jessie Steigerwald and Donna Hooper
will meet to review and secure space needs.
• THEME—Need to reach agreement on the themes most wanted to honor each
event (possibly 3-5 clear themes)—possibly including: farming,
freedom/democracy, government, multi-cultural, education, family, etc.

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church—indicated plans for a June 13-14 event featuring
food & International dance
DISCOVERY DAY UPDATE— Susan Rockwell reported the presence of Lexington 300th at
Discovery Day festivities provided good publicity, secured sign-ups of persons interested
in the celebration.
BOOKMARKS— Previously printed bookmarks will be distributed for the Cary Library
summer reading, at the Elephant Trunk Book Store, Senior Center, lobbies of
Lexington's 3 hotels,National Park Center Visitor's Center, Wales Copy Center&
Michelson's Shoe Store.
PUBLICITY—Denise Dube awaits any and all information that can be used for publicity.
CALENDAR—Calendar of events hoped to be published in late August, to include web
publishing to be published in late August.
WEB SITE—Dick Kollen is reviewing information to identify anything appropriate and of
interest for web posting.
VOICE MAIL Box—There may be a voice mailbox available within the town's current
phone system. Donna Hooper will inquire and report.
COMMUNITY FORUM—The school calendar should be checked to identify any major
conflict with the scheduled community forum for September 21st
.

Town Boards/Committees

FUNDRAISING—We continue to seek Fundraising Coordinator.
Minutes of February 16, April 6 and May 4 adopted.
Next meeting—August 8, 2011 —4:00 p.m. —Ellen Stone Room.
