distribution.

Pastor Richard Rhodes, Grace Chapel, will be the participating clergy.
Afternoon Parade Applications
Approximately 50-60 applications were mailed this year; to date, thirteen for-a-
fee and three no-fee groups have responded.
Two groups have asked for fee increases. Suzie will tell participants about this
1
year’s level funding policy, asking returning groups to accept the same fee as
2011.
A motion was made to ask returning units to accept last year’s fee. The
motion was unanimously accepted.
A motion was made to accept the thirteen for-a-fee and three no-fee
groups for participation in this year’s parade. The motion was
unanimously accepted.
On line applications should be fully operational next year.
Banner Bearers
Banner Bearers are now Parade Ambassadors. The committee will recruit
older participants.
Linda Dixon’s recruitment flyer will be distributed and discussed at next
week’s meeting.
The application will be available on line.
Fund-raising
Linda raised the issue regarding need for more aggressive fund-raising for
parade sponsorship.
Suzie will ask Mary Jo Bohart at the Chamber of Commerce to provide a
complete list of Lexington businesses for possible solicitation.
Memorial Day 2012
Julie Miller has contacted her suggestion for chief marshal and will keep us
apprised.
Jim Shaw shared with the committee his idea of who we might invite to be
guest speaker.
Patriots’ Day 2013
Participating groups have been notified of the change of parade day (from
Monday back a day to Sunday), 2013 only.
There will need to be a change to announcements of White Hat, Minuteman
2
Cane, etc. award winners this year so that the recipients can participate in
Sunday’s parade.
Committee discussed at length the many choice possibilities for chief
marshal.
Miscellaneous
Clergy representation is set for the rest of the year. Linda has arranged with
the Lexington Clergy Association to have Reverend Lauren Lorincz of Pilgrim
Church UCC with us on Memorial Day and Rabbi Howard Jaffe of Temple
Isaiah on Veterans’ Day.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm
Respectfully submitted by Sandy Podgorski
