Minutes of meeting of February 9, 2011

A meeting of the Lexington Energy Conservation Committee was held on February 9,
2011 at 6pm in the 1 St floor conference room of the Public Services Building on Bedford
St.
Shawn reported that there was an uptick in the energy usage of all schools in fiscal 2011
w.r.t to the baseline year of 2008. An attempt to explain this resulted in a discussion of
normalization criterion to evaluate energy usage. Members agreed that normalization
criterion should take into account a) weather, b) hours of occupancy, c) load increase.
Chris mentioned two prevalent methods of normalization, a) the Btu method and b) the
degree -days method. Chris promised to have a discussion with Paul regarding this.
Shawn mentioned that iBlogix had submitted reports on the energy analysis of three
public buildings in Lexington.
