ContractneedstobesignedbymidMarchtoApril1tostartspringwork.Timewillbeneededatthebeginningandendofeach summertomoveClassroombelongingsinandoutofplannedrenovationareas.WorkisincludedinphasingplanforstartinginApril fornewboilerroomconstruction.Night&weekendworkisscheduledthroughtheconstructiondurationwithdoubleshifts anticipatedduringthesummermonths. Athreesummerprojectwasbrieflydiscussedbutnotlookeduponfavorably. AFurniturebudgetneedstobeaddedtoindirectcoststoaccountfornewclassroomfurnitureintheaddedclassroomsandthe renovatedlibrarycheckoutdesks. ‰ ‰ DiscussiononsecondshiftconstructioninCentralcoreareas,preferredoverregulardayshift.Itwassuggestedthatallafternoon programmingatbothschoolsshouldberelocatedtootherbuildingsduringtheconstructionphases. Keydateswithinthesummerconstructionsequencesshouldbeidentifiedandincludedinthespecssopthattherearemidsummer milestonestohelpkeeptheprojectontrack. UpdatedPhasingplanswerereviewed,howevertherewasadisconnectbetweenthearchitectsandtheprincipalsinthelogisticsof swingspaceforstaffwithinthebuildingtofreeupadministrativeorcentralcorridorspacesforrenovation.Thisissuetobe reviewedfurther,however,theoverallthemewastoallowforconstructionofportionsofthecentralcorridorspacesafterthe summerbreakbutduringoffhoursorsecondshiftonly. DPCattributedsomeofthesecostincreasesto: materialprices,ductwork,pipeandwiregoingup. Generalconditionsoriginallyasapercentage.Needfordoubleshiftsinthesummer. Complexitieswerenotanticipated. Otherdiscussionsincludedwhatcanberemovedfromtheaddedscopetogetclosertotheoriginalbudgetnumber? Whatisthepaybackonthenewwindows? PBCwouldlikeDPCtoputtogetheralistofalternatestogetbacktothe19.3number. DiscussiononOptionalSeismicbracingforBridge,thoughtswerethatifitisnotrequiredatthistimeandcanbedonewhenroofis replacedinthefuturethenpossiblywaituntilthentodoso,howeveritwouldbehelpfultoknowwhatkindofseismiceventwould causefailure.Currentlynoseismicbracingisbeingaddedunlesscoderequired. Discussiononnewentrancecanopiesincludedfavorablecommentsonaverynicedesign.Somefeltthatiftheprojectcanafford themitwouldbeapossibleadd,howevercurrentchangesinoverallprojectcostsneedtobeunderstoodfirst. DPC,PBCandschoolrepsreviewedlistandmaderecommendationsonscopeitemsfromchartunderPossibleScopeAdditions PossibleScopeReductions.Recommendationsfromgroupshouldadjustestimatedbudgetdownwardfrom$21,855,444toapprox $20,055,000. Additionitemsweresummarizedasfollows: EntryCanopyatanaddofapprox.$160,000wasaperceivedbysomeasanicetohavebutwouldrequireschoolcommitteeinputas othersfeltontheoriginallyapprovedbudgetof+/$19.4millionshouldgoforward.Analternatecouldbeconsidered. SeismicBracingatBridgeisconsideredoptionalandrepresentativeswouldliketoknowwhattypeofseismiceventwouldbe requiredtobenefitfromtheimprovements. NewWindowswouldbeconsideredanalternateintheproject.Anticipatedenergysavingsfromnewwindowsdoesnothavea promptpayback,planshouldrepairwindowsasbaseandreplaceasalternate.
