A meeting of the Lexington Energy Conservation Committee was held on November 10,
2010 at 6pm in Room 221 of the Public Services Building on Bedford St.
A presentation was made by Rick Mitchell of Meridien Associates. Meridien
Associates provides various engineering, renewable energy and sustainability
consulting services to a variety of commercial and public sector clients. Mr.
Mitchell provided a brief overview of the various services provided by Meridien
and praised the various initiatives already underway in Lexington. Interest was
expressed by some members of the ECC in having Meridien Associates provide
a sustainability report card on Lexington public buildings in the future.
Some background information about Meridien Associates is attached.
Pat Goddard of the DPF mentioned to the ECC that NSTAR and National Grid
have appointed engineering firms to evaluate energy conservation opportunities in
Lexington.
A short discussion was held on whether Lexington should apply for a grant from
MA Department of Energy Resources (DOER) for setting up electric vehicle
charging stations inside the town. Members of ECC discussed some of the
controversies surrounding the “green-ness” of electric vehicles (see attached
document). No decision was taken.
Respectfully submitted,
Prabir Maulik
