Minutes of Meeting of November 14, 2 011
Amended
A meeting of the Hastings School Site Council was held on November 14, 2011,
7:45 AM at the Hasting School library. A quorum of all 9 members was present.
Members Present: Louise Lipsitz, Mary Edman, Lisa Croke, Jane Kaliniski, Anne
Knight, Heidi Pasternak, Nancy Salitsky, Kyle Tompkins, and Tina Weber
The meeting acted on the following items:
I. Welcome and Introductions
II. Minutes of 9/26/11 were reviewed and approved
III. PTA meeting on December 6 -will be an open dialogue with parents
about how math is taught. Teachers from various grades will be
present.
IV. In response to the 2011 Community Survey Results, Lynn Reeves
Griffin has been invited to speak at Fiske on 12/16 7 -9pm for the
schools -- Hastings, Estabrook, and Fiske -- that feed into Diamond
(and 11/29 to the schools that feed into Clark) on ways to support
pro - social growth in children. The author of The Negotiation
Generation will speak on issues of building resiliency and handling
stress in the busy, structured lives many children lead. This meeting
will serve as a springboard for future discussions.
V. Budget - capital requests were submitted weeks ago. Louise is
tracking maintenance issues to be a voice for our community needs
town wide. Our physical plant does not meet the needs we have as a
community.
Again related to the Community Survey, our vital community has
many action items of interest specifically related to parental
involvement in building beautification. Louise will gather information
in this area to share at the next meeting on 12/19.
