LEXPRESS FY02. Ridership increased by 2,626(3.5%). Pass sales increased by$1,156 (4%)indicating a rise in frequent riders. Bus revenues increased$832(1.2%). Outside revenues(MBTA,TDM,Ads)increased$18,332.26(12%). Cost of producing and distributing transit guide decreased$1,242(-17.2%). Transfers for April looked out of proportion and will be verified. 2. Transit Guide. Options to the current guide were discussed including new format,MBTA schedules,and reduced size. Distribution through the town tax bills to ensure delivery and reduce costs was raised. B-Line,Waltham CitiBus and Nexus schedules were reviewed. A compact,less expensive guide will be developed as a sample. 3. Marketing. Special summer services have been promoted by flyers on buses and public areas. There has been a good response to the Minuteman High School service and little response to the AM camp stops or Depot Square/Town Pool free shuttle. Lauren MacNeil of the Senior Center was contacted to assess senior interest in a special LEXPRESS service to the Burlington Mall. Lauren felt there would be interest,but thought Lexington Center businesses might be offended. Input from the Lexington business community will be sought. Given the success of Discovery Day,a Saturday free ride promotion was raised. Bill Levison's Transportation Clearinghouse Research. Bill reviewed a comprehensive marketing handbook and formulated a detailed outline of transit promotions. The document was distributed electronically prior to the meeting. A library promotion using a library card as a bus pass,bus schedules sent to new residents,and transportation curriculum received the most response.Bill was recruited to secure additional information on the educational program. Gratitude was expressed for Bill's marketing research. Sally Castleman responded to Bill's document prior to the meeting. Sally endorsed the educational program,library efforts,and merchant discounts for bus pass holders. Sally raised the issue of a college intern to assist with marketing. 8. Transportation Demand Management. A commuter survey was electronically distributed to employees in Boston Properties buildings on Hartwell Avenue. The 128 Business Council will compile the responses. VHB was hired as the consulting firm for the Planning Department's Transportation Element. A schedule of public meetings will be conducted starting in September. 10. Minutes from June 12,2002 meeting were noted with no objections. 11. Next Meeting. Wednesday,August 21,2002.
