LEXPRESS Contract. A RFP, emphasizing used equipment for a five-year period,was issued on March 27 with a response deadline of April 11,2001. Don Graham edited the document and has agreed to be on the Review Panel. Kelly Zeloi,DPW Budget Analyst, and Gail Wagner complete the panel. 2. High School Scheduling. To better compliment the high school schedule,it was approved that the second LEXPRESS trips on school days,Routes 1,3, and 5,will start directly from the high school at 7:10 am facilitating a 7:35 am arrival time. This will provide an additional five minutes for students to get to classes before the 7:45 am late bell. 3. Summer Schedule. To service summer camps at Hayden and Center playing fields,riders on the 8 am and 8:30am trips can request drop off on Worthen Road at the end of the route. Return trips will be promoted by free boarding on Route 4 to Depot Square from the Lincoln/Worthen Road area. Minuteman Regional High School summer program will be serviced as in past summers by an extension of Route#4 at 8 am, 11 am,Noon, and 3pm. 4. Discovery Day. Free LEXPRESS rides on Discovery Day, Saturday,May 25,2002,was approved. Last year,average Saturday ridership was doubled on Discovery Day. 5. Patriots Day Parade. LEXPRESS and the COA will jointly participate in the afternoon parade. Sign-up is being coordinated at the Senior Center.LEXPRESS will provide a picnic lunch for participants. A new LEXPRESS banner is on order. The parade committee will assign children to help carry the LEXPRESS and COA banners. 6. Hartwell TMA. The promotional brochure is complete. The first presentation was held at Boston Properties and the concept was well received. 7. Transportation Forum. Senior and special needs transportation issues were discussed at a forum held at the Senior Center on March 26. The event was well attended,including representatives from several social/health agencies. The caliber of panelists and presentations was noted. Community access television will air the event and provide videotape for subsequent information sessions.An issue raised at the forum,taxi services for seniors,merits exploration. 8. Marketing. Information obtained from LEXPRESS rider surveys and from the Marketing classes at Lexington High School will be used to guide future marketing efforts. 9. Rider Boarding Request. A rider's request for boarding assistance is at the discretion of each driver. A rider has the option to request use of the wheelchair lift at any time. 10. Minutes from the February 20 and March 20,2002 minutes were approved. 11. Next Meeting. Tuesday,May 14,2002.
