LEXPRESS Contract. A fourth and fifth year contract extension with M & L Transit Systems was found to be legally questionable by the town comptroller. The problem results from the absence of 4 and 5th year pricing on original signed contract. A RFP emphasizing used equipment will be developed. The time period will be 5 years based on updated state guidelines. 2. High School Scheduling. Based on LEXPRESS arrival times at LHS over a period of several months, it was recommended that the second runs (Routes 1, 3, and 5) on school days originate at LHS rather than Depot Square. This would permit a 7:10 am start and a 7:35am LHS arrival. The additional five minutes is advantageous in accommodating high school student riders. Complaints were received this year that second LHS LEXPRESS runs were arriving too close to the late bell at 7:45 am. The recommendation was supported. However, the need for a consistent start time of 7:10 am was stressed. 3. Summer Special Routes. A meeting was held with the director of the Hayden summer camps. LEXPRESS coverage is welcomed, but access to the parking lot is not possible due to traffic congestion. Route accommodations from past years were reviewed, specifically AM end of route stops by Hayden Center upon request and PM free boarding on Route #4 ad j acent to the Hayden Center to provide access to all routes at Depot Square. 4. Bike Rack Grant. Notification was received that the bike rack grant proposal was denied by the Mass Rural Transit Assistance Program.
