1. LEXPRESS Rider Injured by Auto. No new information. A police report was
released and no citation was given to the driver of the auto.
2. Route Review. Letters to property managers of underutilized LEXPRESS special
stops, specifically Brookhaven,Locke Village and Countryside Manor,were sent.
Brookhaven will raise the issue at a resident meeting. One response was received
from Locke Village and another sole response from Countryside Manor.
3. Hartwell Avenue. It was confirmed that MBTA Route 76 is following the revised
schedules effective 12/29/01. The Hartwell TMA brochure is near completion.
4. Senior Transportation Forum. On March 26,2002,a panel discussion on
transportation services for Lexington seniors and persons with special needs will be
conducted at the Lexington COA. It will be taped by Community Access television.
5. Depot Square Reopening Ceremony.LEXPRESS will participate in a Saturday
ceremony to reopen Depot Square.LEXPRESS passes will be provided for a raffle.
The event will be organized by the Town of Lexington Economic Development
Office and will emphasize local businesses.
6. LEXPRESS Rider Survey. Rider surveys distributed at Depot Square and on the
buses yielded over 80 forms that will be analyzed.
7. Hayden Recreation Camp.The camp director will be contacted to discuss
LEXPRESS services to campers.An on-bus camp attendant will be proposed.
8. Marketing LEXPRESS. Encore Bank inquired as to interior bus ad space. The cost
of bus ads on small bus systems will be researched. An ad campaign was proposed
featuring youthful celebrities who were former LEXPRESS riders, specifically
Rachel Dratch and Ethan Zohn. This idea will be raised to the Lexington High
School marketing teacher who has indicated an interest in presenting LEXPRESS.
9. Parade Banner.A prior LEXPRESS banner with an emphasis on"liberty"is
acceptable for use in this year's Patriots Parade given its patriotic theme.
10. Bike Rack Grant. A grant for a bike rack to be installed on the front of a
LEXPRESS bus has been submitted under the guidance of M&L Transit who will
provide a 20%match($199)if awarded($796)by the MA Rural Transportation
Assistance Program(MArtap).
11. Transportation Meetings. The MPO 25 Year Transportation Plan was the main topic
at a Bedford hearing and the monthly Regional Transportation Advisory Council.
12. Minutes of January 16,2002 meeting were approved.
