Meeting Minutes

1. TAC. Diane Pursley is the new Chair. Sara Arnold remains Co-Chair. Sara reported
speaking with Don Graham,retiring Chair,who is making progress following surgery.
New meeting date is second Tuesday of each month.
2. LEXPRESS. Ridership was up for both January and February. Compared to last year
January was up 8%and February 3%.Fare analysis to check ridership continues.
Extra Route#6 AM bus was curtailed on March 3 due to a decrease in riders.
LEXPRESS has provided good service during several snowy days of operation. Snow
routes curtailing service on difficult roads have been used. Two such roads are Woodcliffe
and Peacock Farms.
LEXPRESS pass application will be part of the student transportation packet for the
coming school year. However, a statement regarding LEXPRESS override status may
need to be included depending on the date the packet is mailed.
3. Youville Place. Interest in door-to-door service was brought to the attention of Heather
Sweeney, Senior Center director. TAC discussed road concerns in servicing Youville
Place, specifically visibility entering Massachusetts Avenue and steep incline. and lack of
alternative access road. Additional information will be sought from Heather Sweeney to
clarify if transportation to the Senior Center is the issue for Youville residents.
4. Access Corporation. Diane Pursley reported that focus groups were conducted. Topics
of concern included traffic,Hanscom,diversity, limited funding.A final report is
forthcoming.
5. Transportation Awareness Day,May 15. Lexington will hold its first transportation
awareness day.Publicity will be focused on schools;flyers to elementary teachers,
article for high school paper. The Bicycle Safety Committee and Traffic Safety Advisory
Committee will be contacted regarding sponsorship.
6. Marketing. A final draft of the Smart Tripper education booklet was presented.It
will be distributed in conjunction with Transportation Options Day. Bill Levison's
hard work in championing this project was noted.
Senior Transportation Notes. The Senior Newsletter's inclusion of transportation
information has had a good response. The topic this month was MBTA discounts.
Patriots Parade. LEXPRESS in conjunction with the Senior Center has been accepted
to participate in the parade on Monday,April 21. LEXPRESS has funds to provide lunch
as in past years.
7. Bicycle Policy on LEXPRESS. Based on MBTA policy,bikes are not permitted on
LEXPRESS. Bike racks are needed to accommodate bicycles.
8. Minutes from January 15,2003 were accepted.
9. Next Meeting. Tuesday,April 8,2003.
