LEXPRESS FY06 Budget Corrections
Town Budget Book does not capture the total cost of providing full bus service in FY06 or fare revenue
offset. Michael Young of the Treasurer's Office developed a statement to address these issues that will
be distributed at the TMMA informational meeting. Michael was present for the discussion.
Sara consulted Jeanne Kreiger who recommends presenting the corrected budget to the Selectmen prior
to Town Meeting. It is on the BOS agenda for March 28. The corrected budget will include an added
$23,143 which will come form an existing Transportation Special Revenues Acct(not tax levy).
Article 2 —Town Committee Reports, Town Meeting
TAC will make an Article 2 report at Town Meeting. Diane has developed a slide presentation. There
was discussion that Transportation Services encompasses more than LEXPRESS. Gail will develop an
inclusive list of activities to be considered for the Article 2 report.
Article 4 and 9 TDM Proposals

project.

Anderson Regional Transportation Center (ARTC) Bus Shuttle - Suburban Mobility
Bus shuttle service between ARTC in Woburn to Burlington and Lexington is being established by the
128 Business Council and is scheduled to begin in mid-April. The Transportation Services Office
collaborated with the 128 Business Council during grant development. Both TAC and the BOS sent
letters of endorsement. This regional effort will be noted in the Article 2 report. The report will also note
the Belmont, Lexington, Woburn regional proposal developed by Don Graham and Dick Canale.
Emission Standards—LEXPRESS Idling Concerns
A state law prohibits vehicles idling longer than 5 minutes. LEXPRESS drivers are aware of the law and
M & L Transit is to reinforce this law with the drivers. A citizens' group is looking for ways to decrease
bus emissions, especially around schools. Gail hopes to attend an upcoming meeting as suggested by a
school administration staff member. The Board of Health is sponsoring an emissions reduction talk the
evening of March 22.
Lexington Center Collaborative
A meeting is scheduled for the evening of March 24. A subcommittee is to form addressing
transportation issues in the Center. An all day meeting is scheduled for June at LHS.
Bus Ads
LEXPRESS has solicited ads in the past. There has been recent discussion regarding ad content related
to Baby Safe Haven's inquires. TAC intends to develop a policy as to appropriate ad topics.
