HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-08-30-TAC-min Transportation Advisory Committee Minutes Meeting Date: August 30,2006 Attendees: Sara Arnold, Sally Castleman, Elaine Dratch, Bill Levison, Hank Manz, Eric Eid-Reiner, Gail Wagner Lexpress RFP To guide discussion on size of vehicles, ridership data for the most heavily used routes and times were presented. A sample of FY06 riders based on selected months follows: RT1 @7:10 Rt3 @ 7:10 Rt3 @2:30 Rt2 @3pm Rt6 @3pm Sept OS 16 16 8 11 24 Oct OS 16 15 6 12 22 Nov OS 15 17 6 10 20 March 06 14 17 8 9 23 Average 15 16 7 11 22 Information packets on vehicle research conducted by Bill and Gail were provided. Research was organized into categories under the titles of public transit, private services, and manufacturer reps. Discussion raised these points: • Length max 26 feet • Seating 20 seats minimum (includes flip seats to accommodate wheelchairs to maximize use of space) • EPA compliant • Fare Box in view of driver • ADA requirements (step height, lift/ramp) Advantageous • More than 20 seats • Wheelchair Lift/Ramp with Minimal rattling (dissatisfaction with current lift regarding excessive noise) • Local presence of manufacture's service rep • Fully compliant EPA standards- community's environmental concern Gail will contact MA Dept of Telecommunications to inquire as to safety standards for riders standing in the aisles on a public bus and number of wheelchair spaces required in a seating plan for a public transit bus. Perspective TAC Members As perspective TAC members, Sara asked that Rachel Cortez and Jen Vogelzang be copied on all TAC emails. TDM Interest Bearing Accounts Rob Addelson, town's chief financial officer, continues to review the issue. Starwood Hotel is working on its final Planning Board proposal.No upcoming development that may require a TDM component is known at this time.
