Director, Greg Zurlo, Planning Board member and John Livsey, Town Engineer are developing TDM rezoning requirements. ➢ Sidewalks from Countryside Manor to Peachtree Drive with a crosswalk to connect existing sidewalk to Lowell Street will be requested. ➢ Lexpress is the only public transit in the area. Countryside Manor had direct Lexpress service until 2002 when it ended due to lack of riders. Lexpress access from Lowell Street has been ongoing. ➢ Lexpress service to site is desirable. Monetary support of Lexpress as part of the rezoning proposal was reviewed in terms of past agreements such as a lump sum, annual payment and /or purchase of Lexpress passes or tickets. ➢ As a condo development, a lump sum payment for the Lexpress operating budget to be prorated on a 20 year basis was favored. ➢ A monetary formula based on a bedroom count at Manor House will be developed by Maryann. Current residential properties with Lexpress rezoning terms will be compared. Community Outreach to Promote Lexpress ➢ Larry reported on a conversation with Nancy Nolan of the Global Warming Action Committee (GWAC). Nancy is open to promoting Lexpress. She feels ridership is largely Seniors and teenagers. Human behavior is hard to change, as experienced by GWAC. A consistent message is critical to fostering public response. ➢ New Lexpress slogan to promote public response should be considered. ➢ Library special events coordinator, Elizabeth Dickinson, was identified as instrumental in promoting travel on Lexpress to library events. ➢ Discovery Day is an opportunity to offer free Lexpress rides provided by Lexington Retail Association and to have a bus available for touring. ➢ Representatives of COA, GWAC and interfaith council should be invited to upcoming TAC meetings to explore shared interests and support. Minuteman Senior Services, Burlington, February 11 - Transportation for Seniors ➢ Larry attended the meeting. Lexington was noted for having a community bus. ➢ AARP rep gave senior demographics and suburban impact on transportation needs. ➢ Dottie Winn of MBTA Ride emphasized "transportation training" and video tour for transit users. ➢ Lexington at Home is a network of older citizens that identify services and support to maintain independent living. A Lexington at Home rep was in attendance. Lexpress After - School Service to Diamond Middle School ➢ Mr. Silver, Diamond School parent, requesting service sent a summary of his January discussion with TAC to Sara and Gail. Gail will forward to all TAC members. ➢ Gail sent Mr. Silver free Lexpress tickets to encourage his daughter and middle school friends to try Lexpress and to solicit feedback to guide after school service.
