Senior Transportation ➢ Charlotte Rodgers explained COA's intent to initiate a pilot taxi voucher program for seniors. A donation of $30,000 was given by Lexington Health Care. ➢ Town appropriated funds are not sought. Perspective contributors include Friends of the COA, Dana Home Endowment, and Wilson Farm grant. ➢ Neile Gordon, Human Services Intern, presented details of her research comparing senior transportation in local towns. ➢ An estimate of 5% of Lexington's 8,100 seniors is likely to participate. ➢ Veteran's Taxi Cab has successfully run a comparable program in Weston. Seniors pay $1 or $2 dollars based on distance per ride with town providing $7.50 to $8.50 per ride. ➢ TAC advised that program goals should be clarified. Who to be served? How to be served? Service delivery options? ➢ A regional meeting to discuss senior transportation issues was recently held with Lexington represented by the Town Manager and Charlotte Rodgers. MBTA Meeting with Lexington Representatives ➢ After storm cancellation, a new date has not been proposed. ➢ If re- scheduled, TAC will attend and a summary of TAC concerns sent to Rep. Kaufman. ➢ Appreciation for the MBTA's annual Lexpress subsidy will be noted. ➢ MBTA's vision for Lexington including Hartwell Avenue will be raised. Electric Vehicle Charging Station ➢ State has not responded to date. Lexpress Updates ➢ January ridership was 210 less than last year. Snow storms impacted ridership. ➢ Elaine Celi, Lexington school bus coordinator, compiled a survey with input from Safe Routes to School, and the Lexpress office. Survey will be sent to parents electronically to track school transportation choices and selection criteria. ➢ Michelle Ciccolo, Hudson Planner, submitted a preliminary Clean Air Suburban Grant for GPS tracking equipment. Acton and Lexington provided letters of support. March Meeting Date ➢ Week of March 14 was identified. Electronic calendar will be sent to poll availability.
