Town Celebrations Committee
September 8, 2011

Business
Suzie Barry called the meeting to order at 7 pm.
The August 17, 2011 minutes were accepted.
A list of committee meeting dates through December 2011 was distributed.
Membership contact information was updated.
Elections
Suzie Barry was nominated and accepted for the position of committee
chair.
Bob Tracey was nominated and accepted for the position of vice
committee chair.
Sandy Podgorski and Linda Dixon were nominated and accepted to
share the position of secretary, pending Linda’s agreement to do so.
Julie Miller will contact the Commission on Disabilities to ask which of our
meetings a representative of theirs can attend.
Bill Mix will contact the Minutemen Executive Board to ask which of our
meetings a representative of theirs can attend to discuss seating arrangement
and additional accommodation at the reenactment.
Suzie has scheduled a meeting with the DPW to discuss the Memorial Day
lapses.
TCC members are invited to the Fire Department headquarters on Sunday for

the September 11 event.

Suzie plans to meet soon with the town’s new veterans’ agent.
Suzie and Linda Dixon will meet with the web designer to discuss the TCC
website.

Veterans’ Day 2011
Regarding the essay contest, the second question was changed.
Paul Jenkins will be in touch next week with information on chief marshal.
Suzie will send invitations next week.
We can use Cary Hall in case of rain.
Sandy Podgorski will write to Wilson Farm to ask for a donation of four dozen
carnations for distribution to veterans in attendance.
Patriots’ Day 2012

Parade applications will be ready for mailing at the September 29 meeting.
The committee talked about nominees for chief marshal.
Initial contact has been made to see, if possibly, a Bruin (or even the Stanley
Cup) might be available for the afternoon parade.
Patriots’ Day 2013
Day and time of the parade has not yet been determined. The Selectmen will let
us know when the decision is made.
We are considering several new groups to include in the afternoon parade.
