HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-06-22-TCC-min Minutes Town Celebrations Committee June 22, 2011 Town Office Building, Room G-15 Members present Suzie Barry, Linda Dixon, Mary Gillespie, Jo-Anne Granger, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Henry Murphy, Sandy Podgorski, Charlie Price and Bob Tracey Members not present Dick Crogan, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Bill Mix, John Rossi, Jim Shaw and Dave Taylor Business  Suzie Barry called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.  May 26, 2011 minutes were accepted with two changes. Memorial Day 2011 Recap  DPW did not fulfill all of our requests for the morning.  Suzie will meet with DPW to talk about our committee’s needs.  Buglers were late, missed the Westview Cemetery stop.  We will need more water next year. th 300 Update and Discussion  The Selectmen were apprised of the subcommittee’s progress.  Event kick-off is scheduled for September 22 and 23, 2012, ending on Memorial Day 2013.  A Lexington resident will donate a titanium (time) capsule. th  Suzie will get 300 pins for committee members.  An historic fashion show is being planned for sometime in February 2013. th  The 300’s website should be up and running this coming September. th  Regarding the Patriots’ Day parade -- the 300 subcommittee wants the Town Celebrations Committee to handle it. Subcommittee members are suggesting the parade commemorate the anniversary with possibly moving the parade from Monday to Sunday for 2013 only.  The idea of installing a clock at Depot Square was discussed. It was suggested that the time capsule, which could be sealed on Memorial Day 2013, be placed in the base of the clock for a 50-year duration.  Field and Garden Club will plant special gardens.  LHS Pops Chorus will plan something special.  Tours and a community picnic are also being discussed.  Things to work on – fund-raising, Minuteman statue refurbishing, i.e. Other Business  Town Celebration Committee membership reappointments were approved.  John Rossi has decided not to return to the committee.
