Attending were: Betty Borghesani Howard Craven Leo McSweeney Paul Lapointe Jane Pagett Verna Thayer Lauren McSweeney, Director of Social Services Barbara Ciampa, Minuteman Senior Services Liaison Tom Griffiths, School Committee Liaison Richard Pagett, Selectman Liaison Jim Gough, LexSA Joh Federechka, LexSA 1 Director's Report Lauren reported that there was an el3) daY y s because e of lack of heat. At t time forced the Center to close for three () of the fire, the elevator was not working. the disabled up stairs ' bled to clients until the Fire Department arriv ed to Y safety. The staff has been trained to handle just such an emergency. While commending the staff, a dc time, there is no handicap egress when from the lower the elevator is inoperable. At the present level that does not involve climbing stairs. 2 2008 Budget a. Outreach worker requested restoring of a fulltime The 2008 Social Services budget community outreach worker to serve both youth and elderly. The ifSe seeously seemed supportive, but would want more information in support, consider funding it. Richard Pagett stated that the 2008 Budget is strained even without enhancements. Barbara Ciampa mentioned that in Winchester the FCOA would fund a new position and if successful, then the Town would assume the funding. n n Richard Pagett raised the issue of the continuing need for Town financial b. support for the Adult Day pr $30,000 Town contribution t timeeThe goal had been to have the program self- sufficient for the 2007 -2008 budget. Transportation The LexSA representatives at the meeting suggested the need for a study of the transportation needs of seniors, They requested that someone for the COA attend their meetings, Instead, it was agreed to form a Transportation sub- committee with the COA, LexSA and Transportation Advisory committee being represented.
