Status of Munroe School site
Richard Pagett reported that the BOS has appointed a new committee
composed of the Town Manager and representatives of the Munroe Center for
the ARTS to discuss their mutual needs and responsibilities regarding the
upkeep of Munroe School.
Tom Griffiths suggested that the fire and building inspectors assess what needs
to be done.
Given the uncertain status of Munroe School, it was decided to postpone
ARTICLE 36 until the Fall when it is expected the BOS will have made a decision
as to the disposition of the school.
Richard noted that the MCFA had mobilized a large group to oppose the use of
Munroe as a Senior Center. Marian noted that the Seniors need to mobilize, as
well, She suggested forming a Public Relations sub - committee.
Richard reminded the Committee that before each BOS meeting there is an
open comment period and suggested the seniors take advantage of the
opportunity to speak out on the shortcomings of our present site.
Senior Advocates Formed
Marnie Terzian, Jean Lee, Barbara Parker, and John Fedorochko announced the
formation of a new group, the Senior Advocates to work for a new Senior
Center. In response to their inquiries regarding various proposed Senior Center
sites including Worthen Road, Marian Cohen will put copies of the Senior Action
Plan Committee report that reviewed the various sites studied in the Senior
Center library and at Cary Library. Because of the formation of this new group,
Marian suggested we postpone forming a public relations subcommittee.
