The meeting focused on the plans for an April 17 public presentation. We had a discussion about why we are doing this presentation and what we hope will be the community reaction. - show we exist - show that we share the same values - reach a community accord (why is this issue important ?) - give people a chance to get a handle on the problem - lay groundwork, get people ready, start brainstorming - we want people to be willing to act and help - we'd like to get more data from households - establish credibility of the committee (this was added by JJ after the meeting) A basic layout for the meeting was drawn up: 1) Discuss what brought us here 2) What the committee is doing 3) Data presentation carbon emissions in Lexington variability of households 4) Comparisons with other communities 5) Our next steps establish goals how we get there discussion seed some ideas Our handout should contain data, sources, assumptions, etc. We also discussed shortcomings of our data: - still nothing from Lincoln Labs. - oil usage - guesses based on averages, data from a few households. - National Grid (Keyspan) data questions still persist (Charlie is working on this). - vehicles - still need to integrate air travel piece - ridership numbers for MBTA & LEXPRESS Other things: - We will invite representatives from NG and NSTAR to the meeting and they can give us a single slide for us to present. They will not be presenting on their own. - base year for footprint? We'll go with 2007 for now. - Where can we get data on the effects of trees? - Dan and Toby will work on an op -ed for the Lexington Minuteman. Town Meeting Article 43: The committee unanimously accepted the following statement in support of Article 43 for this year's Town Meeting: "The Lexington Ad -hoc Climate Action Plan Committee endorses the idea that all projects in the town of Lexington consider the need to address global warming and energy usage as they are brought forward ". Future meeting schedule: April 8, May 13, June 10, all in Room 111, Town Office Building Public presentation: April 17, Cary Library Meeting Room, 7 -9PM. JJ Krawczyk
