We did note some sources of emissions that are not easily covered by the software: - air traffic, both local and miles traveled anywhere by residents - effect of consumer goods purchased (emissions due to manufacturing and transportation) - lawn care What the software DOES cover: I. Community analysis A. Transportation 1. Road 2. Rail 3. Marine B. Waste C. Residential, Commercial, Industry 1. electricity 2. gas 3. oil 4. propane D. Other (need absolute measurements) II. Government analysis A. Buildings, streetlights, water /sewage (repeat same utility list from above) B. Vehicle fleet C. employee commute D. Waste E. Other (need absolute measurements) Who will gather data and enter? Is it too late to get an intern? We also discussed getting the data, possible base years (will be driven by the data available) and deciding what to measure. The Town Manager's office can talk to NSTAR and Keyspan to get data. A comprehensive list of all the data we need is required. One difficulty will be auto (road) traffic, both in deciding what to measure and getting data. We must take into consideration what traffic we have a chance to modify; e.g., a lot if not the majority of auto emissions in Lexington come from traffic on Rte. 2 and 128/95, but the town isn't going to have much influence in reducing traffic on state and federal highways.
