TRUSTEES OF PUBLIC TRUSTS
Minutes of Meeting
April 4, 2002
A meeting of the Trustees was held at 8:00 P. M. at the home of David Williams.
Present were Trustees Alan Fields, David Williams, Thomas Taylor, and Secretary Karen
Jackman.
The minutes of the January meeting were approved.
Dennis Mazzoni from the Cemetery Department was present to request money for a golf
cart and tamper.
The following requests for funds were approved:
1. $5000 from the Geneva Brown Fund for repair of the Battle Green Memorial
obelisk.
2. $2000 from the George Gilmore Fund for newspaper box containers.
3. $2500 transfer to Steve Baran, $300 fi•om the Lexington Human Services Fund
and $2200 from the Bridge Charitable Fund.
4. $1000 to the Center Committee for sununer flowers from the Eddison Blossom
Fund.
A motion by Dave for $3000 from the Gilmore Fund as seed money for the Norman
Cohen Scholarship Fund was not seconded. We were asked if we could provide money to
start a Matt Allen Scholarship Fund, and it was decided we cannot.
The Garden Club has directed that 100% of the income from the Smith and Emery Funds
to be paid to them in the future.
It was voted to accept the Amanda Payson Scholarship Fund with a gill of $327,000.
It was voted to accept the Bass /Dir i co Scholarship Fund with a gift of $10,000.
The Trustees reviewed the SSGA report format and Dave will request some revisions.
It was voted to pay Karen a stipend of $4000 per year, payable semi- annually.
It was voted to authorize Dave to commit scholarship funds as the requests come in.
The following transfers to principal were voted:
$5000 income to principal in Geneva Brown Fund.
All income to principal in Lee Fitness Path Fund
$5000 income to principal in Tower Park Fund.
All income to principal in the Friends of the Council on Aging Fund
All income to principal in the Jack and Sally Gardner Fund.
