Mr. David Williams
Trustees of the Public Trusts
Town of Lexington
1433 Massachusetts Avenue
Lexington, MA 02420
Dear Mr. Williams,
I want to thank you for all the help you gave me these past few months. As we have
discussed, the following are the conditions that should prevail in establishing and
holding a fund in memory of my husband, Michael Wagner. The fund shall be know as
the Michael Wagner Educational Technology Fund for Teacher Recognition.
Here are the stipulations that I would like made:
The Trustees will hold and invest the fund as part of the Common Trust Funds
administered by them for the Town of Lexington.
The net income for the fund shall be paid as follows:
Each year no more than three quarters of the annual net income shall be the basis for
the monetary award. The remaining income and all the capital gains shall be
transferred to principal.
The purpose of the fund is to recognize and honor a teacher in the Lexington Public
Schools who has made an outstanding contribution to ensure that technology
supports the teaching and learning of Lexington students. Teachers can make this
contribution in many ways, but some specific contributions would include:
• developing technology- enhanced lessons to support
units adopted for use in the schools agreed -upon curriculum
• using technology to support individual student learning, especially in the area of
remedial skill work or special education
• mentoring and assisting colleagues on the use of technology in the classroom
Nominees will be solicited from parents, students, administrators, and teachers by
filling out a specific nomination form.
A Committee will be formed to select the award candidate and should consist of:
• one member of the Wagner family as long as she is willing and able to serve
• the Coordinator of Educational Technology for the Lexington Public Schools
• the Director of Elementary Education
• the Director of Secondary Education
• one parent representative selected by the Coordinator of Technology
The award will be given annually at a faculty gathering as determined by the
Superintendent of Schools. If in any given year no applicant is deemed qualified, all
income shall be transferred to principal.
Please let me know if there is any further information you will need.
Sincerely,
Cx
Gail Wagner
