Fenn, Lexington Minute Man Grant Award Dear Mr. Williams: AREA COOS 78: 052-4! 81 962-4'83 FAX Fir, 2.1 02 Please establish the following terms and conditions for which the Trustees of Public Trust shall hold the trust fund cited above as established by the family and friends of Dan H. Fenn. 1) The Trustees will hold and invest the fund as part of the common trust funds administered by them for the benefit of the Town of Lexington; 2) Net income from the fund shall be paid as follows: a. Each year the then acting Captain of the Lexington Minute Men Company shall award a grant award to be known as the "Dan H. Fenn, Lexington Minute Man Grant Award" in an amount equal to three /fourths of the net income of the fund; b. The remaining one /forth net income from the fund shall be added to the principal. 3) The Captain shall present this annual award at the appropriate time during Lexington's Patriot's Day Celebration in April. 4) A committee shall be formed to include the following individuals for choosing the recipient by simple vote: a. The acting Captain of the Lexington Minute Men Company; b. A member or descendant of the Fenn Family; c. President of the Lexington Historical Society; d. Chair of the Lexington Board of Selectmen; e. The Head of the History Department of Lexington Schools or their appointee. An individual or group looking for funds for research project, program, or activity focusing on the Colonial History of Lexington. This criteria is not to be narrowly defined by the Committee; b. The recipient may be an individual or group either nominated for the grant award or identified by their application; c. The application shall be in the form of a letter stating and outlining the proposal and need for the funds. Such letter can be sent to any member of the Committee; d. Preference could be given to residents of Lexington, at the discretion of the Committee. Thank you Mr. Williams for your assistance and support in establishing this fund. Aker Family Scholarship Fund) This letter is sent to set forth the terms on which the Trustees of Public Trusts agree to hold the trust fund that the family of Charles D. Aker have established in his memory. 1. The Trustees will hold and invest the fund as part of the common trust funds administered by them for the benefit of the Town of Lexington. 2. Net income from the fund shall be paid as follows: (a) Each year the Trustees hal award a scholar- ship in the amount of^ t fourths of the net income of the fund. The remaining income from the fund shall be added to the principal. (b) To be eligible, a potential recipient must meet the following criteria: (I) Student must be a graduating senior. (II) Granting of scholarship is contingent upon the student's acceptance to an academic program selected to further his /her education. (III) Demonstrate a seriousness of purpose and a clear sense of responsibility. (IV) Student must have held a responsible position contributing to the success of a sports team (other than as a team player) with the Lexing- ton High School athletic program for at least two seasons. (V) Be in need of financial assistance. (c) An applicant for the Charles D. Aker Family Scholarship shall apply by: Submitting character references from 1) a team coach, 2) a L.H.S. teacher, 3) one of the following: a leader of an organization in which the student is an active participant (other than an athletic team), a member of the clergy, an employer or a neighbor to the Lexington scholarship committee. Mr David Williams Dec 29, 1997 Page 2 (d) The recipient may be awarded this scholarship for up to four academic years upon receipt of transcript showing a C+ or better average grade for the previous year of study. (e) If in any year no qualified students, or no students, apply for the Charles D.
