They are extremely brief, but I realize now that we have never sent out the school survey results. Do we have time before the end of the year? Could I suggest these final minutes be attached as a brief introductory coverletter? Please let me know if there are corrections to these minutes. Thank you. Janet Lane June 3, 2004 SCHOOL COUNCIL MINUTES Attending: Barbara Lockwood, Lynne Stinson, Jennifer Hertzel, Jessie Steigerwald, Maria Moxon, Janet Lane Unable to attend: Bette Piece, Tammy Mulligan, Sue Campbell We reviewed the first drafts of the 2004 -5 School Improvement Plan. The topics, which were drawn from the adult school wide survey results include the following goals:: 1- Improve differenciated instruction in Math and Reading (to assist children at both ends of the spectrum, accelerated and struggling learners) 2- Improve communication and educate parents regarding the curriculum 3- Improve parent knowledge of school protocols and procedures. This includes continuing to support volunteerism, creating a volunteerism handbook, volunteer training, coordinating a school wide calendar, and creating a school wide handbook. 4- Improve parent and teacher knowledge of normal and abnormal child development. 5- Improve communication and educate the entire school community to better understand special education and the value of inclusive learning environment. Drafts were edited. The revised versions should be sent to Lynne Stinson and she will finalize the School Improvement Plan for the beginning of the 2004 -2005 year. 11/5/2004 Page 2 of 2 SCHOOL COUNCIL MEMBERS: School council elections were held following the meeting and Reem Yared and Diana Partyka were elected to serve in the upcoming year as parent representatives for two years.
