He has come to several meetings and attended an all School Meeting. He has been involved in the hiring of a few staff people, he has met with Jenn Clifford and Lynne Stinson. Hastings Staff have meet to prepare a statement of the traditions and routines they hope will be preserved under his new administration, and this was sent to Steve. The 2005/6 School Council Goals will not be used as a job performance measure for Steve's first year at Hastings. They are a guide to tell him what parents and staff in the School Council felt were key issues for the year. There is no funding to implement any recommendations, so they School Improvement Goals are not mandates. The council went over drafts of school Improvement goals written by delegated members. We will revise these as a "final" version for Lynne Stinson's review. Lynne will make sure the final document goes to Steve Adler. Janet Lane will coalate them and make sure they are put into a unified format to make for easier reading. We discussed a goal of building better community support for the children attending Hastings but living in Boston and supporting the ongoing work of the Asian families committee, but it was decided that this work was already ongoing through the Anti -Bias committee, which was an outgrowth of School Council. The 2005/6 School Improvement Goals are as follows: - Respecting and Understanding Learning Differences, by Susan Campbell - Differenciated Instruction in Math, by Tammy Mulligan - Improving Communication between Parents, Teachers and School Administration, by Tammy Mulligan - Implementing Open Circle and Building Social Competency, by Diana Partyka - Improving Parking and Safety procedures, byDiana Partyka - Health , including three subsections: a) Air Quality, participating in the townwide Tools for Schools 6/22/2005 Page 2 of 2 intiative : by Marcia Zichatella b) Improving School Lunch, by Reem Yared c) Encouraging Physical Activity: by Janet Lane Due to the very heavy work load of a Principal preparing for retirement, we decided not to schedule a final meeting date and to try to accomplish finalizing the school improvement goals through email. Revisions of these final goals should be submitted to Janet Lane by Tueday, June 14. Janet Lane 6/22/2005
