Meeting Date: March 8, 2005
Attendance: Bill Blout, Elaine Sterzin, Arny Berger, Beth Ribeiro, Becky Rushford
As a small group we decided to postpone today's meeting. We were going to begin
dialogue about council's role, responsibility, and authority and felt it essential that more
members could participate.
Some general updates to pass along. Kelly Magee will be joining the Social Services
Department on April 4th She has her Master's in Social Work, experience working with
senior citizens in a skilled nursing home setting, and management skills Kelly's passion
and enthusiasm will be an asset to the department.
On Friday 3-11-05 I will be meeting with staff/professionals from Department of Mental
Health's Collaborative Assessment Program(CAP) The League of Women Voters
invited Julie Fenn and myself to speak at their April forum. The topic is At-Risk Teens
in Lexington.
The Forum for Youth working group is meeting Wednesday March 30th at 12pm at
"Elaine's Place" We have scheduled a second Forum for Youth meeting with therapists.
It will be held Monday April 4th at 7:30pm at Cary Library's Meeting Room. Please
reserve the date.
The snow tubing outreach initiative was a great, safe, and fun success. The kids were
incredible and everyone seemed to have fun, even the chaperones. I have completed a
snow tubing trip survey that will go out in the mail by the end of week and provide some
feedback.
Our next meeting is Tuesday April 12th 2:30pm at Lexington High School. We will
then focus on the council's role and responsibility
