Cultural Council will open May 17. There will also be a concert June 7. The NHM will
offer a camp program this summer.
The Joint Training session is scheduled for May 6. Carla Fortmann assembled 150
packets with information about each of the sites. The meeting will be at the NHM with a
visit to Munroe.
There was discussion about a joint ad opportunity offered through Greater Boston but it
was very expensive.
Dawn made a successful presentation to the HDC regarding signage issues:
• Constraints were lifted on the limitations to the two Event signs.
• A policy needs to be developed as to what should be included on those signs.
Mary Jo will write up her current procedures and priorities. It is currently updated
every 3 weeks; every 2 weeks in high season.
• The use of the community calendar should be encouraged.
• A parking sign for the new Edison Way parking area was approved.
• The Belfry and Burial Ground signs were left out of the original set of signs. Kerry
will speak to Lexington Signs about the additional expense.
In order to protect the Liberty Ride trademark, some merchandise needs to be produced
by June 21. Dawn was authorized to get a dozen hats, a dozen tee shirts, and a dozen
bags produced. She will speak to Jim Shaw about shooting some pictures to be used for
postcards. She will check with the various affiliated shops to see if they wish to order any
items to sell.
Masha reported that Liberty Ride ridership for Patriots Day weekend was excellent. On
Saturday about 80 people rode with just slightly fewer on Sunday. The Trolley
participated in the parade and the expense will be reimbursed by the Celebration
Committee since they unexpectedly needed to use the vehicle. So far this fiscal year
there are 70 charters scheduled compared to 48 last year. The Liberty Ride will again
offer local businesses the opportunity to offer riders discount coupons. Nonprofits will be
free to participate but Lexington and Concord businesses will be charged $50. Mary Jo
will contact Lexington Chamber members; hopefully the Concord Chamber will let their
membership know as well. Masha will be away May 17 -29 but has made management
provisions.
The Rotary Club will use the Liberty Ride for a meeting. The Committee voted in favor of
offering them a complimentary charter and guide in 2009.
The meeting adjourned at 5:43pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Kerry Brandin
