Meeting Minutes
Monday, May 1, 2006 at 4:00 p.m.
At Town Offices, Room 111
Present: Dawn McKenna, Bill Scouler, Chuck French, Mary Jo Bohart, Kerry Brandin,
Richard Canale, Richard Pagett, Paul O' Shaughnessy, Masha Traber (Liberty Ride)
Absent: Lou Sideris, Bebe Fallick, John Ott, Susan Bennett
Called to order at 4:15 pm.
Motion to approve and accept the following minutes:
• February 27, 2006 approved as amended
• March 28, 2006 approved as amended
• Note — Approval of October 17, 2005 remains outstanding
Budget:
• Updated Liberty Ride budget was presented by Dawn McKenna
• Discussion of proposal to purchase a 2 nd sound system for Ride and additional
costume pieces for Liberty Ride and Green tour guides
• Motion approved to allocate from gift account and any operating surplus the
following amounts:
o Up to $250 for a sound system
o Up to $1000 for appropriate costuming
• Motion approved to expend $70 for costume purchased by Masha Traber
• Donations of 18 Century clothing for tour guides will be accepted (Paul
O'Shaughnessy to put out the word among the re- enactment community)
• Discussion on funding for Liberty Ride — operating and funding for the Ride
appears to have acceptance within Town Meeting

• The address info a,libertyride.us has been obtained and will be used
Update on Liberty Ride:
• Mary Beth reports that Quality Inn and Battle Green Inn have both committed to
$350 advertisements in brochure. Mary Beth will confirm.
• New email address will be added to brochure
• Concord Selectmen have accepted dropping the Concord Depot loop
• Committee supports Masha' proposal that Ride will operate daily 10:30 am to
4:30 pm, last trip leaving National Heritage Museum at 3 pm
• Brochure edits to add parking symbols and change "Depot Square" to "Historic
Depot A II'-11 r X 71
• Coupons — Mary Jo to contact Lexington Restaurants, Paul O' SfiaQhnes'sy t'6
verify Historical Society tour discount for Liberty Riders . c W 130 900z
• Ride stop signs are faded:
o Most faded can be swapped with spares, order new as needed
o Masha to review condition of signs and advise Dawn on priority
• Website — Mary Jo, Paul and Chuck will review site on -line, advise on correctness
of links and information, and where to get correct information
• Committee agreed to continue to use CTM as a distributor of Liberty'Ride
Brochures.
• Donations received from Sheraton Hotel and Arlex Oil
Historic Roads Conference
• Richard Canale reported that approvals are going before the Arlington and
Concord Boards of Selectmen
Landmark and Parking Signage
• Kerry Brandin presented a package of signage to be presented to the Historic
District Commission (HDC)
• The intent is to bring coherence to signage, improve guidance to parking and sites
• General approval and sense to proceed
• Design Advisory Committee was asked for input prior to sign designs and they
advised to go to HDC
• Paul O' Shaughnessy to determine what the Historical Society can contribute
approved house signage and report to Dawn
• Mary Jo to determine whether the Chamber of Commerce is able to contribute to
cost of Visitor Center sign — proposal is for a two -sided sign
Additional Business:
• Decision to defer discussion on new projects
• Bebe to work on making Tourism a standing committee
• Brief discussion of news helicopter over Green on Patriots Day — general approval
to seek a prohibition if possible
• Proposal to meet again on May 22 °d
