DISCOVERY DAY 3 WEB SITE 4 OTHER ISSUES UPDATES. • PROGRAMS&EVENTS. An update on discussions from the Programs & Events subcommittee which met earlier in the day • The subcommittee has identified possible Chairman/Co-chair for the 3 major events of Fall 2012, March 2013 and May 2013 who will be invited to a meeting of May 18th to invite these individuals to serve as Co-Chairs for these major events • A loft clock is proposed along with a time capsule to be erected at the Depot Square/Emery Park. Eric Carlson reported the Lexington Lions Club is prepared to fund the structure/clock • Banners with the Lexington 300 logo are proposed for hanging along Massachusetts Avenue for the full 9 months of the celebration. Members supported acquiring high-quality banners to withstand the duration. • LEXINGTON 300TH LoGo—members identified a need to follow-up with the students for whom their logo entry was not selected. Van Seasholes will contact Sean Hagan for the information on who to contact, • LEXINGTON FLAG—Interest in securing Lexington flags, of a few sizes, were expressed. Donna Hooper reported this will be investigated with DPW and the Selectmen's Office, • DISCOVERY DAY—Lexington 300th will have a presence at Lexington's `Discovery Day' event of May 28th Sue Rockwell will coordinate the booth, sell the 300th anniversary pins, and seek signups of interested citizens who may be interested in becoming involved in the celebration. The Patriot's Day parade banner may serve as backdrop for the booth/display Sue is also pursuing printing of bookmarks for distribution at the booth. • LoGo DECAL. Thought for an oval shaped decal similar to those seen on automobiles (Nantucket, etc ) was presented. Support was expressed by members Lexington 300th Anniversary 1 Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee ■ DAN H.FENN AWARD Donna Hooper updated members on the granting of the Fenn Award for a joint initiative of the Town Archives/Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration for creation of a presentation piece showing the town seals and votes of the legislature regarding the creation of the North Precinct, establishment of the first church, and incorporation of the town, as reported in last month's minutes • PUBLICITY Plans for a townwide meeting to be held in the fall, with publicity to the Colonial Times, Lexington Minuteman, Boston Globe and other national publications Denise Dube is prepared to write pieces in the areas of cultural, historical and social. Sue Rockwell and Van Seasholes serve on the LexMedia Board and will provide contacts for that media. • WEB SITE-Sue Rockwell provided an update on plans for enhancing the web site for Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration, working with consultant Harry Forsdick. Options shall include blogs, the town seal, work from town departments and may include possible writers as Dick Kollen, Bill Poole, Rick Beyer, and others Harry Forsdick has requested members contact him via email `harry@forsdick.com' with thoughts and ideas • CARY MEMORIAL LIBRARY-Director Koren Stembridge shared some thoughts and ideas Cary Library is considering for the 300th anniversary celebration, including • LEXINGTON READS-incorporate the theme into the year's program as a means of promoting the initiative • PROGRAMMING- where is Lexington going • COMMEMORATIVE LIBRARY CARD-in support of the celebration • EXHIBITS-DEDICATING THE GALLERY FOR THE ENTIRE 9 MONTH CELEBRATION ISEPTEMIBER 2012 THROUGH M4I2013] TO TOPICS IN CELEBRATION OF LEXINGTON [APPLICATION GENERALLY DUE 6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE]. ERIC CARLSON OFFERED COPIES BE MADE OF SOME OF HIS COLLECTIONS FOR EXHIBITION Next meeting— 1 Have a joint appearance of Town Celebrations/Lexington 300th at the June 20th meeting of the Board of Selectmen to provide update on thoughts and direction in which the plans are going. 2 Wednesday, June 1st or June 2"d as backup 3 Lexington 300th open forum for Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Cary Library Meeting adjourned 1 50 p m.
